Comment	Rents around the uni are expensive because of all the students! You and your friend would be best to find a flatshare (4-6 people sharing a flat). I doubt you will earn that much doing a basic, unskilled job only part-time. But it does depend on the job. Have you looked to see what is available? I went to Strathclyde many more years ago than I want to admit to (I know COBOL, let that sink in).
