I’m only speaking from experience- affordable rent in lower quality housing has allowed me to live an amazing quality of life in Glasgow and dirty closes are a small price to pay for this! People are paying 1550 a month for flat share bedrooms in Hackney at the moment, for that amount you could live anywhere in Glasgow. It’s a huge positive and genuinely not meant to patronise or tarnish the town.

Glasgow’s affordable but incredible nightlife is something that the city should be far more renowned for, the fact that so many amazing venues are on the brink of closure due to the pandemic is testament to the fact that they’re not getting the support and recognition they deserve. Venues like the Barras are a perfect example of all this.

The stereotype I’ve seen from ignorant folk in England is more about Glasgow being a stabby, cultureless death hole that’s irrelevant compared to Edinburgh’s Disney tourism. I’ve shown folk around your city with pride and all of them have admired the beauty of Glaswegian architecture. Maybe that didn’t come across in my post too well.
