These are two different measures and not comparable. Lockdown mitigates mostly all circumstances for the virus to spread exponentially. Closing pubs mitigates a singular cause. House parties are also a singular cause. With this in mind, it was unreasonable to question whether full scale lockdown would lead to more infections because of house parties. It's reasonable to compare and contrast two singular matters and ask whether house parties will cause more infection than pubs, particularly when tackling one might be catalytic to the other. |
