It gets very snowy in the winter. It's basically on the side of a hill so it gets pelted.
You ideally need a car to get around. The nearest train station is Drumgelloch which is on the main line between Glasgow and Edinburgh with regular trains, but it's a bit of a trek by foot from Plains (about 30-40 minutes depending on what end of Plains you live in).
If you've got kids, the Primary School is small, and classes often double up (ie P1 and 2 are in the same class).
They have a wee community parade every year (though not this year for obvious reasons), and a fair in the park. |
