Salmon have always been spawning in the Clyde, pollution obviously took a toll but they are back in good numbers now, Stonebyres power station is the upper limit for them but they spawn succesfully just below it and just a few miles further, the falls of Clyde are a natural barrier they have never been able to cross, so I am not sure what the salmon forums mean by "lack of natural spawning". You can see them leap the weir at Blantyre around October. |
