The first stretch of the West Highland Way goes from Milngavie to Drymen and there's a bus from Drymen back to Glasgow... Or you can take the bus to Drymen and start from there. It's a fairly popular walking route, but quieter than Balloch.
We're really fortunate in Glasgow to be able to access the countryside so easily - great for switching off from everything.
