Well, clothes are kind of essential - imagine the optics if wee Jimmy, 5, from Cumbernauld, dies of hypothermia because his mum couldn't get him a winter coat while his classroom has all windows open during a cold spell?

I'm not suggesting that keeping all such shops open is the right answer, but making clothes unavailable during a Scottish winter doesn't seem entirely rational either
