I live in Glasgow and got new bike through work last year.
A decent saddle bag with 2 or 3 spare inner tubes, Allan key etc is a must.
Would recommend you avoid roads where possible and cycle on many of the canal paths, old railway lines and off road cycle ways that Glasgow has.
Also always wear a bike helmet 😀.
