Sorry for the late reply mate. I went through one of those sites, think it was mybuilder.com and a self employed guy came out and he just went up on a ladder. Think the problem is the companies need to adhere to H and S legislation and would be crucified if someone fell and injured themselves. Guess the self employed guys don't have that problem.
