Comment | You hear so many stories about cosmetic surgery or dental surgery tourism. Yes it can be cheaper but but what if he gets complications once he got home? It's not uncommon and I speak from experience. I'm female, had some cosmetic surgery about 15 years ago, very good private hospital in Brighton (Nuffield). Still had some complications which I since found out are very common. I had to be rushed into surgery 3 days after the operation. It was all resolved but it cost me another £2,000. But I was able to go back to the same hospital, see my surgeon and have top quality care.
I'm not dismissing the quality of care abroad just because it's abroad (I myself am from 'abroad') but continuity of care really really matters.
Imagine the cost of flights (with short notice), hotels etc to go back and have it readdressed? Now imagine that and the extra hassle in the Covid era?
EDIT: adding that, you don't get an extra holiday after surgery. If he's having a breast reduction, I can assure him that the weeks following the surgery won't be much of a holiday. He will have restricted upper body movement, won't be able to lift shit, and when he first sits up in bed in the morning he will curse the moment he was born. |
