I'm not trying to say people have given you bad advice as of yet but Glasgow is not being filled with bodies every night... If you feel uncomfortable living where you stay then you should move if you have the means to. Otherwise, you should take precautions to protect yourself and keep safe.

Try to avoid areas that you don't know well and keep to places with people about. Don't wear really fancy clothing that stick out and wear comfortable clothing. Don't be dismissive to beggars but look them firmly in the eye and say sorry but no. Always keep walking too.

The way some people have been talking about the homeless is nothing short of disgraceful. Yes there are a lot more drugs/alcoholism but that's always been the case in Glasgow. Most of the time they won't bother you even though they are annoying af and can be intimidating.

Don't let people make you feel like you can't be happy where you are. You need to determine for yourself whether or not moving will improve your standard of life. I don't know your experiences but I live near city centre and it's not perfect. However, it doesn't affect my every waking moment and being occasionally inconvenienced by those in a tough situation is a grievance I've come to accept.
