The random test is usually if they suspect someone at the company is using drugs so they’ll test other people to make the test appear random when it’s not.
For instance if one person on a shift or team is suspected of doing drugs you’ll all get tested.
I was at a logistics company (a German one - you can probably guess which) and they suspected someone of using drugs, tested the whole shift and practically all of them were sacked.
Another place one of the managers was a heroine user so they selected her and 2 others they knew would be clean for a “random test”.
Another company I visited (I was an engineer) suspected someone of smoking marijuana on the job and tested the shift and same thing, lost about 2/3 of the shift.
Bizarrely I worked at a company north of Glasgow (I’m a contractor) and they tested a load of the warehouse for drugs and one guy came back positive for cocaine but kept his job as he’d already declared to the company via the union that he was a drug addict and legally they couldn’t sack him. |
