Word of advice - there’s a few Chinese landlords who are based in China but want to give the impression they’re based in Glasgow.
I had a run in with one that said the flat was a 2 bed (with one other housemate) when it was actually a 3 bed with 2 other housemates. I was told the doors had locks but they didn’t.
Another was up the Gallowgate/Calton area which is a bit of a shit hole but I needed somewhere fast for a few months and it was £300 for the room a month. I just wanted somewhere cheap to secure a room as I needed to be flexible moving in.
After agreeing to price they then doubled it to £600 a month right before I moved in.
I’m not sure if it was the SpareRoom or AirBnB, however i contacted the site to complain and effectively they removed the listening.
It was years ago and I think I paid £300, then got refunded and they then sent me a link again to the listing for £600..... this was days before I was set to take the place on.
What grated me most was when the owner said it was a “special price” for me 😂
Also they told me it was a great area and being familiar with Glasgow, knew it’s basically fairly rough.
