It's dangerous and selfish. Even more so with a child. There are rules to the road, and much as not everybody is always great at following them, it helps keep everybody moving in the right direction. The pavement is a free for all, and there will be *other people's* children using it too, who don't want to see an adult coming towards them on a bike. If they even see you coming. You get dogs on the pavement too. And buggies. And old people. And people in wheelchairs.

Adults cycling on the pavement, unless there's some obvious reason for not using the road, really pisses me off but if there's a kid on the bike too it's just idiotic.
