Fair points. I think my gripe comes from my time in Korea, where modern flats are just great, and even older ones (pre 2000s) are pretty great. Modern flats there will typically have underground parking, security guards, playparks, and the developers are usually required to construct a commercial building to provide nearby services for the inhabitants. We just don't have the same conception of convenience.
