| Comment | I agree its stupid that the bits along the south bank of the river never get considered "southside". Growing up here we kinda interpreted it as was anything east of the M77 or west of Aikenhead road.
My best bet for why the riverbank areas aren't thought of as southside is cause there used to be a pretty strong sense of community in them with people living, working and socialising in the same small area. Meanwhile areas like Pollokshields, Queens Park, Cathcart, Newlands were more residential so people living there and to travel out their immediate area for work and recreation. |
