| Comment | Thank you for this nuanced reply it does help me put my own memories and experiance into perspective. I suppose it would have been quite a different experiance to be a teenager or young adult in the area as opposed to a child. My parents said that everyone who could get out did get out but not everyone was able, like my gran who was poor and and didn't want to leave the neighbours she'd had for years.
I'm glad to hear the area is better now, I believe they knocked down lot of the worst flats like the one I was in as a kid so I hope the housing situation isn't' as bad now. I will need to go back at some point. |
