Comment | I was born in Easterhouse and currently live in Craigend and spend most of my time at the moment nipping over to the Fort and back and honestly it's not too bad but it's certainly not great.
The Fort, while a good provider of jobs and somewhat of a focal point of the area, hasn't provided a lot of what's missing in the area and what makes it fee like a bit of a wasteland. What I mean by that is there aren't any local bars and cafes fostering a sense of community like in other areas of the city. Something that makes living here feel like being in some forgotten backwater rather than a part of the city.
There are also massive issues with fly tipping and people just not caring about their environment in the council estates, for example, in Craigend at the moment, I can look out of my window and see a wrecked trampoline, sofa and various piles of discarded rubbish, all from a couple of houses. People with this attitude really bring the area down and make it feel like it's not worth staying to try and better the place and instead makes you want to escape. |
