Sure the knowledge is public but the UK has state of the art facilities built for testing that other countries do not have, the UK is very equipped in this area of science.
The legal immunity does not include immunity from giving the compensation in the event its required. Its there to protect the company and the nurses/staff giving the injections from being sued.
