All the systems had location identifiers.

The black and silver ones had the location symbols being the second and third letter before the numbers with the age identifier being the final letter after the numbers. So, ABC 123D ... BC would have been location, D would have been age.

The yellow and white plates before the current system had the very first letter be the age and final two letters for locations. So, A123 BCD ... A was age, CD was location.

Current system AB12 CDE ... AB is location, 12 is age.
