| Comment | Since the end of September/beginning of October (when over 18's football was forced to shut down again) I've been going up to my local pitches with some cones, an agility ladder and a ball to do a bit of training to keep my fitness up until it's allowed to restart.
There's 3 full size synthetic grass pitches which get split into three thirds to give you 9 7-a-side pitches and for the last couple of months there's always a couple of pitches available since there's been no over 18 teams training, so I've been going up every couple of nights and using whatever pitch is free for an hour or so of training.
Now, the younger folk who work for the councils leisure department are pretty chilled out people and just let you crack on with what you're doing. But there's this one older person who is an absolute jobsworth arsehole who threatened to phone the police on me for "trespassing" last night, just for doing a bit of training on an empty pitch. Surely to god there are better things to do than harass a guy who's doing a bit of training on his own.
(Bear in mind that when these pitches were built, the council put letters through peoples doors saying that it was completely okay for people to use the empty pitches on the understanding that they vacated them when a paying party turned up for their time slot) |
