Over the last few months we’ve had Roma women begging in our town. They get dropped off in the morning by a guy in a Mercedes and are dotted around the town outside Our local Tesco and Greggs etc, they are then picked up later on and driven back to Govanhill. It’s clear exploitation of these women, yet people are willing to turn a blind eye. People have reported them to the police however have been told there is nothing they can do as begging is not illegal, but clearly there is something darker going on that isn’t being looked at.
They seem to have moved from the City Centre since lockdown due to it being quiet.
There are definitely deep issues going on within some of this community, so no matter what people think of the videos, something needs done. |
