Problem with all the rules are they are so contradictory, so black and white, but so grey at the same time.

Like if you were to spend Christmas Day with your parents, you had to leave at 00:01. but why would leaving at 17:00 the next day cause any more risk ? (assuming the 'group' had stayed the exact same)

I think there should be an element of common sense to it, people are going to break the rules regardless, so would it not be better to give advice on how to stay safer rather than orders ? Like the vast majority of people would love to see friends and family on NYE, If small groups of people could stay effectively quarantined between Christmas and NYE, then I don't see things like that as a big issue.
