Spikes. You can get cheap shit for about £5 that'll do the job, or YakTrax for around £25. They both work best of solid ice can can wear out quickly on non-iced tarmac.
Ideally walk to a park and do a few laps on grass, perhaps switching to paths you have seen are clear.
Trail shoes can also help but £££ and if on tarmac for too long I find they are brutal on my hips.
