On the question about going for a walk. You'd be fine. The Clyde walkway runs from the green basically all the way along the Clyde and it's pretty nice in the summer. Thr green is massive for nice walks. Even walking into town isn't far. It's walkable to Dennistoun of you wanted to see what all that fuss is all about (not sure myself despite living in the east end!).
