Yeah you’re definitely being scammed there. If you can get virgin they are usually pretty good with being accurate with their speeds as they use their own dedicated service rather than BT phone lines. I’ve been with them for years and not had any complaints (but like a lot of ISPS Their customer service is shite). It’s unlikely you’d see much better speeds with BT or Sky as they all use the same line to your property.
This being said, I’ve always found games consoles to be a bit weird with speed tests. Was it the PS built in speed test? This will give you the speeds to the PlayStation servers which may result in lower speeds being shown vs what you’d get with fast.com for example (it tests against Netflix servers).
Don’t worry about PPOE - if you don’t know what it is you don’t need to worry about it.
You could probably get away with 2 of them, yeah! If you find you need a third you can always add a third later as well. I’ve got friends who use the Google stuff and love it, also have friends who use the Eero stuff and love it.
