| Comment | I lived in a single end from about age 5 to 10, this would be 1969. 1 bedroom for 5 of us kids and mum and dad in the living room/kitchen, toilet was shared with another family and was on the landing, no light in there but plenty spiders and freezing cold. Washing(body) was done in the sink at the window, we had one coal fire and the mice were everywhere. When I think back now it was extreme poverty but as a kid it was just where we lived. 873 London Road, where the police station is now. |
