Comment | It won’t cost as much as folk are saying. We had one installed with a liner for about £3000, but we’re on the ground floor so the liner was 28 metres to the chimney.
It’s not cheap and it’s not clean. If you don’t have a free supply of dry wood, you need to buy it. I pay £7-9 a bag of good, dried, hard wood. I’ve got through 20 bags since the start of December, and we still have the heating on.
I have a log store at my back door; if you’re top floor you’ll have to carry it all up the stairs.
It looks nice, and for us, it heats the one room that never got warm. Pain in the arse though
Edit - ours is smokeless, multi-fuel, so allowed currently. Also £60 a year to sweep it. |
