Ask to talk with a different doctor then. It's worth noting that GPs are often extremely reticient about prescribing anything for sleeping difficulties. I had insomnia all through uni, and my GP at the time said it will typically resolve itself with time, and the effect of prescribing sleeping pills is often worse than the effects of insomnia.
