I do realise the majority of council funding has to go to other things such as schooling. But I would say that sanitation is a pretty high priority for a cities council, unless they want to become a cesspit. It’s not a difficult thing to organise, and unfortunately if they’ve not got enough staff to do it they need to hire more!

I don’t disagree that they don’t have good and helpful people working for them, but it’s not their fault it’s a systemic problem with the council that comes from incompetence in management. It’s a problem with most public bodies to a degree. But Glasgow seems to be on a completely different level. During the first lockdown they managed to not pick out bins up for 6 weeks, led to a massive increase in rats round the area. That’s just not providing service at that point.

And I know their staff work from home, but by now they should have sorted out phones for them to open call lines again. Cisco phones can work from an internet connection, or failing that cheap mobile phones.

I don’t like criticising but if you don’t draw attention to these problems you are telling them it’s ok to provide sub standard services.
