At this stage I'd now just like to get to the bottom of why bins and recycling are such a fucking shitshow in Glasgow compared to other regions.

Is it that the council are totally apathetic?

Is it the logistics of collecting so many bins from tenement closes?

Are the staff who work on collections part of a union that have the council's balls in a vice and are totally resistant to change?

Is it just a factor of having far more rubbish to deal with than any other council?

A combination of some/all these things?

I feel like I could rest easier if I had a better understanding of why it's so shit and why it never gets any better. The ridiculous experiment with food bins being a case in point. I know uptake was poor but ours were collected exactly twice in the 2 years they were supposed to be in operation. Not exactly helpful when you're trying to get buy in for this sort of thing..
