| Comment | I worked in Govanhill for years, for a project that supports children and families. If you don't know the area you maybe don't realise what a close-knit network of programs and organisations support children and families there. Even if the children don't go to school - and many of them don't - they are nearly always known to someone who can raise child protection concerns with police and social work if there are any. Overwhelmingly the main issues we raised were families living in conditions of extreme poverty.
I'm not saying there is no child abuse happening in Govanhill. Very sadly it happens everywhere. However if you care that much about this issue, why not do something constructive like supporting and raising awareness about the work of networks that are actually doing something about it, like ECPAT, instead of watching videos of some coked up headcase ranting into his phone? |
