The cogs that govern this sort of thing turn slowly though. They would have to request them through some shitty maintenance contract. My mum (an NHS worker) once replaced a blind in a patients room by buying one from Ikea for <£30 with petty cash. The equivalent would have been >£100 if they had requested through the maintenance firm, and it would have taken a week to get them to visit.
