I grew up in South Lanarkshire. It's saving grace was that there was a train to town.
If you're outdoorsy there's lots of easy access to woodland/countryside etc. But other than that unless you have kids there's not a lot for you there.
Is there any groups of students looking to enroll at the same time as you? Maybe see if you can seek one out.
