In the spot I'm planning in screwing it into on the sides there's a wooden beam behind the board I'm screwing into giving me about an inch and a half (if not more) of material to hold onto. I intend to use quite a lot of long screws and go into that. Think the load would be taken downward and back with how equipment is mounted. The Length of the wood I am looking for would have the end of the wood on the floor which I think would help. Think constructing a floor plate of sorts might be overkill in this circumstance especially if I keep the heaviest devices at the bottom.

Also, will have a look into Central Sawmill tomorrow. If Ash is significantly cheaper then will probably go with that.
