I didn't know about the chaplain stuff, but I'm also surprised by you guys' perspective - most of my queer friends agree with me that while hardly flawless, UofG does relatively well with lgbt issues at least compared other unis. They have a lot more policies in place (eg. around name changes) and have vocally supported trans students using the correct bathrooms for themselves when some transphobes put up signs on bathrooms (trying to tell students to use bathrooms according to assigned gender rather than, you know, their actual gender).
Did you have bad personal experiences? (no need to share anything personal/specific) I have been out since the last year of my bachelors and have had an overall positive experience, lecturers have always respected my wish to go by my name (rather than my birth name) and hardly argued even while I hadn't legally changed my name.
