The news is a few days old, but it doesn't seem to have been picked up much in the local/national media (and I hadn't seen it mentioned on here).

Transport Scotland's Strategic Transport Project Review 2 (STPR 2) is to be published in full later this year, but the good news is that the proposed "Glasgow Metro" (as proposed by the city's Connectivity Commission in 2019) has been included in their phase one recommendations, published this week. It bodes very well for this getting off the ground and actually happening within the next decade or so.

You can read the full report of initial project recommendations, or just the smaller annex about the Glasgow Metro itself, in the link.

TL;DR - The long-term review of big-scale Scottish transport infrastructure projects that happens once every 15 years or so has effectively given its seal of approval to a new Glasgow Metro network.
