Speak to your factor and claim on the block insurance, assuming you have one. Certain things come under contents (carpets and...contents) while walls, ceilings and laminate flooring is buildings insurance.
It sucks, but unless they've done something negligent you're responsible for your own excess etc. Our block has an individual excess not group which is doubly annoying.
