Don't hold your brakes on like that. That's how you lose control. Go into second gear and let the wheels roll... lightly pump the pedal, on and off, then drop into first gear and use engine braking to slow down at the give way.
If you do all that and still go into a slide, then make sure you are near enough to the kerb so you can grind the tyres along the stone to slow down and then jam the wheel in towards the kerb to stop. |
