The standard answer is always - it’s as safe as any other city. But I wouldn’t regularly walk around any other city centre at 4am either on my own.
Have a look at some of the recent incidents in the city centre. Lots of desperate vulnerable people being failed by the system housed in the same place.
It’s not a warzone but its not really a street-smart thing to do regularly imo
