Remember that it should not be used to compare areas to each other. SIMD is an area-based measure of relative deprivation: not every person in a highly deprived area will themselves be experiencing high levels of deprivation.
For example, I’m in a SIMD 20% area but would say I am quite comfortably middle class. But yeah for the area it’s probably pretty accurate.
