| Comment | I 100% get what you’re saying, and I think the figures should be taken with a very small pinch of salt. Saying that, how do we define what constitutes ‘actual racism’ - should it just be out-and-out abuse? From my experience some of the more subtle, even superficially well-meaning forms of racism can prove just as hurtful as they serve as a reminder of your difference in an environment where you hoped you would be treated like everyone else. A lot of people in Scotland like to think we’re very open-minded whereas in reality we can be extremely insensitive about issues like this. |
