Don't think that's it though. People in Glasgow talk to strangers in a way that's quite unusual - you can be waiting at a bus stop and the wee wifie next to you will give you her life story without any prompting.
I've worked in most of the major cities in the UK and stayed in quite a few both here and abroad. That tendency to treat folk as OK until proved otherwise is pretty unusual IMHO.
