It’s kinda refreshing to read all the replies on here. Honestly thought I was the only one experiencing this. I’m currently studying at GU. Grew up in a Lanarkshire mining town. Lost count of the times my accent has been imitated. I’ve been told “you sound really Scottish” and my accent is “broad” “thick” “rough”. It pales with the discrimination that others face... But for 5 years your Glaswegian accent being singled out at the University of Glasgow? It still doesn’t make sense to me |
