I'm not sure if you're fully aware of the chain of events that takes place after a wellness check like this, but the chances of the outcome I suggested are far more likely than what you suggest. I'm not disputing that a wellness check is a legitimate point of action, moreso that it shouldn't be the first move you make in this situation.

OP's friend reached out to OP, and as OP suggested they're unsure as to whether or not it was a plea for help - the absolute last thing I would recommend in this situation would be for the police to show up and cart off a vulnerable person to potentially spend 2 weeks in a mental unit. If they're naive enough to tell the truth about how they feel they could end up getting drugged up and locked up against their will. Nothing says the person in question has demonstrated that they're past the point of regular help, so unless the person has said they're going to hurt others, I'd wholly advise against a spur of the moment wellness check as it's the easy way out for someone in OP's situation. All of what I said is probably fairly debatable in regular times, but during the past year when almost every cunt has had the fleeting notion of offing themselves, I'd be remiss not to suggest hesitation before taking a move as drastic as a wellness check. I hope I don't come across as if I'm being harsh to you but it's serious business.
