I lived on Saltmarket for a while and agree that it’s rather scrappy. I lived on the third floor so noise wasn’t too bad but I wouldn’t have wanted to be on the ground floor. I never felt unsafe there (as a single woman) but wouldn’t recommend it for the faint of heart
