Comment | I've heard people use this excuse before, so it definitely factors in. If you teach people that it's someone's job to pick this shit up then there is gonne be an attitude of apathy when it comes to littering. I'm not saying it's the only factor, but it plays a part and it doesn't help to look at it like that. I'd be genuinely interested to hear what attitude you believe causes littering (I'm sure it's more than just one).
If we all took more responsibility for our litter then councils would actually be able to stay on top of it. Right now they can't even keep up, and putting more money into doing so (enabling the problem) just diverts funds away from other services like education, healthcare, etc. |
