Walking up a hill when you have no hillwalking is risky. Diving into loch lomond in the middle of winter when you've never swum outside before is risky. Cycling in ice is risky (know of someone who broke a few bones in the ice and required a full on rescue mission to be retrieved because an ambulance couldn't get to them).

The issue is people are really shit at assessing risk and think it won't happen to them. Go a walk somewhere, fine. But don't be fucking stupid and climb a munro if you've never even made it up Tinto.
