Glasgow is a lovely place to live, it's my adopted city as well, but as a fellow immigrants, I'd warmly suggest that some areas are more lovely than others. What's your budget like? Glasgow is far more affordable than a lot of Canadian cities. If you're happy spending 7-800/month on rent, I'd suggest a place in the west end, kelvingrove, Hillhead, hyndland, somewhere just off byres Rd or Queen Margaret Drive.
Dennistoun is also great, -aim for "the drives", which are a grid of streets between Duke St and Alexandra Parade, sandstone tenements.
If you can maybe rent an Airbnb for a few weeks and get your bearings that might be the best idea. You'll soon see how neighbourhoods vary.
I hope you'll like it. I'd recommend joining some clubs to get a kick start to meet people. They're very friendly, but sometimes you just need the right opportunity to make friends :)

Happy moving, and enjoy exploring!
