I think the point we all miss with modern buildings (other than the fact they are smaller and darker) is that yeah, they are more energy efficient.
But when they fall apart in 30 years and need to be torn down and rebuilt because they were thrown up using the cheapest stuff around that uses a huge amount of energy and resource.

The tenements are timeless and need to be brought up to date wherever possible
